Support for new Iray and mental ray enhancements

Rendering photorealistic images is easier now, thanks to a number of supported Iray and mental ray enhancements, such as extended Iray Light Path Expressions (LPEs), support for the Iray irradiance render element, and Light Importance Sampling.

  • Iray LPEs are now extended, so you can isolate objects and lights into render elements based on their layer name. Support for the Iray irradiance render element gives you feedback on illumination levels in your model. Support for Iray section planes enables you to easily look inside your designs without complex modeling. This feature greatly enhances your ability to adjust specific lights or explore design options for specific objects in post-production.
  • mental ray includes Light Importance Sampling (LIS) and a new Ambient Occlusion render element. LIS produces faster, higher-quality images in complex scenes. The new AO render element has GPU acceleration with graceful CPU fallback.
